Berkeley SSL/LBL / UW Infra-Red Supernova Search

UPDATE

[Picture of M82]

First Fully Operational Run of the ORCA (Optimum Resolution Camera Adapter) A SUCCESS

Despite terrible storms across the nation for the duration of the May 95 observing run, when the clouds became thin enough to get a bit of data, which lasted only a few hours, your experienced supernova hunters were THERE. We obtained the image of M82 above, through about 2 mags of extinction in 240 sec. of integration on and off source. Notice how much structure is resolved along the plane (is that a warp?) and in the two outlying blobs. How about those fat filimaents in the right of this picture?
